Product & Quality

What makes Lunelle silk pillowcases different from other brands? +

Lunelle pillowcases are crafted from 100% Grade 6A pure mulberry silk in 22 momme and 30 momme weights. The same silk the £100-per-case brands use, without the fancy-box markup. Thicker weave, superior durability, longer-lasting shine. If you want the full story on what separates good silk from bad, read Why Silk Quality Matters.

Is 30 momme silk really better than 22 or 25 momme? +

30 momme is denser, softer, and more durable. More silk threads per inch means a pillowcase that resists tearing and fading while feeling noticeably richer against your skin. Our 22 momme sets are the everyday luxury choice; 30 momme singles and sets of 2 are the heaviest made. Our complete momme guide explains the numbers.

Is the silk genuine and ethically sourced? +

Yes. Lunelle uses Grade 6A silk from Suzhou, China, the birthplace of silk craftsmanship, and every pillowcase is OEKO-TEX certified free from harmful substances. Learn what those labels actually mean in Silk Grading Explained and OEKO-TEX Certified Silk.

Which size should I choose? +

Standard (50 x 75 cm) fits most UK pillows, Queen (50 x 75 cm with a deeper fit) suits fuller pillows, and King (50 x 90 cm) is for larger pillows. Not sure which you have? Our UK vs USA sizing guide settles it in two minutes.

Care & Washing

How do I wash my Lunelle silk? +

Machine wash on a delicate cycle at 30°C (86°F) with a silk-friendly detergent, ideally in a mesh laundry bag to protect the fibres and preserve the sheen. Hand washing works too. Our step-by-step guide: How to Wash Silk Properly, or see the full Silk Care Guide.

Should I use fabric softener or bleach? +

No. Never use bleach, softeners, or harsh chemicals on silk. They strip the natural proteins that keep your pillowcase soft, shiny, and strong. More traps to avoid in Common Silk Care Mistakes.

Can I put my silk in the dryer? +

It's best to air dry your silk pillowcase out of direct sunlight. In a hurry, tumble dry on low or air-only for a few minutes, but avoid high heat.

How often should I wash my silk pillowcase? +

Every 7 to 10 days. Silk naturally resists bacteria and absorbs less oil than cotton, so it stays fresh longer between washes. Keeping that new feel for years is covered in How to Keep Silk Looking New.

Can I use stain removers? +

Avoid strong stain removers. Gently dab stains with cold water and mild soap, or use a diluted vinegar and water mix for natural spot cleaning.

How do I prevent wrinkles after washing? +

Iron inside-out on the lowest heat setting while slightly damp, or hang it in a steamy bathroom to gently release creases.

Is dry cleaning necessary? +

Not at all. Machine or hand washing at 30°C with care is perfectly safe for Lunelle silk. Dry cleaning is an option if you prefer professional maintenance.

How should I store my Lunelle pillowcase? +

In a cool, dry place, ideally in the Lunelle storage box or a breathable fabric bag. Avoid plastic covers, silk loves to breathe. Full storage advice in How to Store Silk.

What happens if I accidentally wash it hot? +

High heat can weaken silk fibres, dull the sheen, and cause shrinkage. Once is rarely fatal: hand wash in cold water next time and air dry naturally. If it feels rough, read Silk Pillowcase Feels Stiff? How to Fix It.

Hair & Skin

Will a silk pillowcase really help my hair? +

Silk dramatically reduces the friction that causes overnight breakage, frizz, and tangles. It is physics, not magic. We break down the evidence in Silk Pillowcase for Hair: Does It Actually Work? and compare every material in Best Pillowcase for Hair.

What does silk do for my skin? +

Unlike cotton, silk barely absorbs moisture, so your skin and your night-time skincare stay where they belong. It also creates less tugging on your face while you sleep. The honest, no-hype rundown: Silk Pillowcase Benefits: What's Actually True?

I sleep hot. Will silk help? +

Yes. Silk is naturally temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking, cool in summer and cosy in winter. Here's why it works: Why Silk Pillowcases Help Hot Sleepers.
